I was reading a female "motoring journalist's" article on her blog/website today & I thought I should share this with you all.
For someone who used to work in a male-dominated industry before (bartending), I'm able to understand her gripes about working with men. However, I also felt that as I had chosen to enter the industry, I have to not only work doubly-hard to prove myself, but be able to handle the job like a guy. Unlike her, I've never referred to myself, or my peers, as "dogs in the same neighbourhood". Not only do I find this term degrading, it actually implies that the writer is a dog herself. Now, why or who, in their right mind for that matter, would want to call themself a dog? So does that mean if I ask you to go "Fetch!", you would? How about "Heel!" & "Roll Over!"?
Look girl, if you can't handle the MEN, DON'T JOIN THE INDUSTRY! You are right, it takes lotsa BALLS and a damn THICK SKIN to be able to just survive in the industry. You also need to have a certain amount of WRITING COMPETENCY, which, sadly to say, you don't have any. Not forgetting, a huge dollop of EGO to match the guys', of course.
So, what I'd suggest is, you go be a good girl now & "PLAY DEAD!"
